A male and his elderly aunt came into the courthouse. The male had a warrant for his arrest and was non-compliant. After about 30 minutes of efforts to de-escalate the male had to be brought to the ground and arrested. His elderly aunt was visibly upset at the sight. I ended up having to stop the aunt from getting involved in the arrest. Afterwards, I took the aunt to the cafeteria and bought her a coffee. We sat and talked for a while, and I was able to put her mind at ease and explain the process that her nephew would go through. She was overwhelmed with the legal system and scared for her nephew, but some coffee and reassurance went a long way towards calming her down.
